Development of a DPNT Hybrid Model

Andrea  Strzelec, UW-ERC/ORNL

Development of a system level Diesel Particulate-NOx Trap (DPNT) aftertreatment device was made possible by combining Lean NOx Trap kinetics into a 1D DPF model. The model uses dynamic input data and was designed to work alone, with input files, or with an engine model, an exhaust thermal model and an emissions model to describe the tailpipe characteristics of the system. The hybrid model was validated against each parent model in the limiting case and was exercised for real exhaust conditions.
