Kinetics and Mechanistic Studies of NOx Storage and Reduction on Model Pt/Ba/Alumina Catalysts

Michael  Harold, University of Houston

NOx storage and reduction (NSR) is a periodic catalytic process for converting NO and NO2 (NOx) to N2 in the exhaust of lean burn and diesel engines. The scope of this study is to elucidate the catalytic processes of storage, oxidation, and reduction and to incorporate that understanding into a predictive NOx trap model for optimization and design. In this talk the results of benchscale NOx storage, storage and reduction and TAP (Temporal Analysis of Products) experiments, as well as NOx trap modeling will be presented.
