Comparison of LNT catalyst performance with in-cylinder regeneration techniques

Regeneration of lean NOx trap catalysts have been performed with a Mercedes 1.7-liter engine that is capable of in-cylinder rich operation. Studies to date have focused on characterization of the exhaust chemistry in the exhaust system as a function of the type of in-cylinder regeneration technique employed. Data measurements include measurements at various points in the exhaust system including intra-catalyst positions. An update on recent results from the project will be given.
