The Development of the MTU 1-D 2-Layer Model to Simulate a Johnson Matthey CCRT
Mohammed Hasan, Michigan Technological University
The experimental data from performance studies of the Johnson Matthey CCRT®, with a Cummins ISM 2002 engine will be discussed. In particular, the loading curves (time varying particulate mass in the CPF and the associated pressure drop) at 20%, 40%, 60% and 75% of full load at 2100 rpm rated speed for both CPF-only and the CCRT® (DOC+CPF) configurations will be discussed. Improvements in the MTU 1-D 2 layer particulate filter model that were necessary to model the CCRT® data are as follows:
- Development of a wall oxidation model
- NO2 production by catalyst in the CPF
- Particulate cake layer filtration model
Results of the simulations using the filter model will be presented.
